Company Certificate of Authority / License Renewal

The following types of companies are required to renew online:

  • The online renewal process for Fully Licensed NAIC Companies and Dental Plans will be available between April 1st and June 30th. If you do not renew by June 30th, there is a penalty for each day you are late.
    If your company filed its certificate of authority renewal application after July 1st last year, you must renew your certificate of authority prior to June 1st of this year to avoid additional charges.

  • The online renewal process for Health Maintenance Organizations; Hospital, Medical, Dental Service, or Indemnity; Limited Health Service Organizations; and Provider Sponsored Organizations will be available between November 1st and November 30th. If you do not renew within this specified date range, your certificate of authority will be canceled. Once canceled, you must submit paperwork as a new company to have your certificate of authority reinstated.

  • The online renewal process for Motor Clubs will be available between December 1st and December 31st. If you do not renew within this specified date range, your license will be canceled. Once canceled, you must submit paperwork as a new company to have your license reinstated.

The certificate of authority renewal process for fully licensed NAIC companies; dental plans; health maintenance organizations; hospital, medical, dental service or indemnity; limited health service organizations; and provider sponsored organizations can be completed online without attaching any certificates or other paperwork. This online process will include the Workers' Compensation Law Compliance Certification. Motor clubs are required to submit additional documentation for license renewal. Please refer to:

You will be required to pay using a credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or eCheck. There is no extra charge for renewing online. When you receive your credit card statement, the charge for renewing online will be shown as "Maryland Insurance Administration."
